THE CAHOKIA MYSTERIES SCHOOL OF COSMIC EDUCATION was co-founded in 1996 by
Star Johnsen-Moser and Mayan Elder and Daykeeper Hunbatz Men. It evolved from a vision Star
received while visiting the Cahokia Mounds earthworks located in Collinsville, Illinois:

"The powerful energies of the giant, earthen pyramid known as the Monk's Mound, took me into a deep
cellular remembering. As I climbed the wooden steps, I felt myself travelling to a time when I was a Mayan
priestess carrying a crystal skull to the top of the pyramid to communicate with the Star People! I had
never studied much about the Moundbuilders and I knew nothing about the Mississippian culture. Why
did I feel such Mayan connectedness in this place?

"I had the opportunity to ask Hunbatz Men if he had ever heard of a place in the U.S. called Cahokia.
He looked at me blankly. Then I pronounced it 'Ca-ho-kee-ya' as I call it in my Sacred Language. His eyes
widened, and he exclaimed, 'That's Mayan!' He questioned me if it overlooked a river called the Mississippi.
As I nodded in affirmation, he exclaimed, 'That's the lost Mayan city!' I shed tears at that moment, for my
own inner experiences and feelings about the place had been confirmed.

"The following morning before beginning our spiritual work, Hunbatz handed me an envelope containing a
letter from him to me, suggesting that I establish the Cahokia Mysteries School in the U.S. He gave the
Mayan meaning of the word Cahokia: CA - number 2 or duality, HO - emerge, KI - good, A - son or
daughter. Therefore, CAHOKIA - IT IS GOOD TO EMERGE IN DUALITY."

On September 8, 1996, Elder Hunbatz Men, Star, her husband Rob, her son Amante, and a group of Solar
Initiates from throughout the Midwestern U.S. gathered for a Solar Ceremony to activate the sacred site of
the Cahokia Mounds, ancient City of the Sun. This ceremony was also the initiation of the Cahokia Mysteries School for Cosmic Education, part of a global vision for the establishment of a network of mysteries schools to be located at each of the sacred areas on the planet for illumination of the awakening humanity.

The mystery school is located on the Moser's ancestral land in St. Joseph, Missouri. We have a sweatlodge, a pond, a 22' tipi teaching lodge, and a "casa de ceremonia" for fire ceremonies.

We host Elders and traditional teachers and wisdom keepers, serving as a bridge between cultures in our
community. Star also takes groups to Mexico and Guatemala to meditate and conduct ceremonies
at the ancient ceremonial centers with traditional Elders and Spiritual Teachers.
